William Earle Rorer, Jr.

 

William Earle Rorer, Jr. was born in Warrenton, Virginia, on January 22, 1947. He was educated in the public schools of Culpepper County and Williamsburg-James City County. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Emory and Henry College, a Master of Arts Degree in Education Teaching of Sciences from The College of William and Mary, and has completed postgraduate work and research in ecology at the University of Virginia.

 

Brother Rorer taught in the Newport News and Williamsburg-James City County public schools for approximately ten years, before accepting a management position with Anheuser-Busch, Inc. After twenty-five years of service, Brother Rorer retired from Anheuser- Busch, Inc. and is currently substitute teaching in the public schools in his community. Brother Rorer also taught as an Adjunct Professor at Thomas Nelson Community College and served the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as an interpreter, musician, militiaman and craftsman.

 

Right Worshipful Brother Rorer was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in Williamsburg Lodge No. 6, on February 22, 1971. He served as Worshipful Master in 1976 and is a Life Member in Perpetuity and Senior Lodge Trustee. He was District Deputy Grand Master of Masonic District 57 in 1981 and was Grand Purveyor in 1982. He served on the Grand Lodge Committee on Arrangements from 1979 until 2005 and was its Chairman in 1994 and 1996 through 2005. He was elected Grand Junior Deacon of the Grand Lodge of Virginia on November 8, 2005. He is a member of the Valley of Newport News, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Khedive Shrine Center, A.A.O.N.M.S., and Williamsburg Shrine Club, where he is currently the President. Brother Rorer is a recipient of the John Blair, Jr. Service Medal from the Grand Lodge of Virginia.

 

Right Worshipful Brother Rorer has been very active in the community. He is a member of Our Saviors Evangelical Lutheran Church where he has served on the Board, several committees and is a trustee. He is a Charter and Life Member of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. He has been involved with the American Red Cross for many years as an advanced first aid, CPR, water and safety instructor and first responder for medical emergencies. He was active with the Williamsburg Community Recreation Soccer and Volleyball teams. Brother Rorer has been involved with the Boy Scouts of America as an Assistant Scout Master, Council Chairman, County Board and Executive Board Member, Peninsula Council, Boy Scouts of America, and is a Life Member and Past Advisor of the Order of the Arrow. He has received the Veterans Award from Troop 103, Boy Scouts of America, has been listed in “Who’s Who in Virginia Freemasonry” and has published two papers in the Virginia Journal of Science.

 

Brother Rorer is married to the former Judith Scruggs, and they have two children, a daughter, Londeree’ Rorer-Kerrick, and a son, William Earle Rorer, III.
