Grand Lodge Committee on CHILD ID (CHIP)

Helping To Keep Kids Safe!

 

Charter:  The purpose of this Committee is to provide parents with a comprehensive child identification service at no cost to them.

Duties:  It shall organize and conduct Child ID Events through out the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Membership:  The members of this Committee shall be appointed from each of the general geographical divisions of the state and the Chairman shall not represent any division. Such other members may be appointed to meet the special needs of the Child ID (CHIP) Committee. The Grand Master, Deputy Grand Master, Grand Wardens, Grand Treasurer, Grand Secretary and the Grand Deacons shall be ex-officio, members of the Committee with voice and vote.

 

Division Directors:     Masonic districts have been grouped into twelve regions. Each region has a Grand Lodge committee member appointed as Division Director. The Division Director duties include, but not limited to, acting as liaison and communication link between the Committee Chairman and the District Directors. The Division Director is recommended by Committee Chairman and appointed by the Grand Master. The Division Director Duties are:

  • Receives all request from District Directors for CHIP Events and forward to Committee Chairman or his representative.

  • Receives all Event statistics from District Directors and forward to Chairman.

  • Ensure all Districts within his Division are represented.

  • Conducts all training of Districts within the Division.

  • Resolves issues brought to his attention or forward to Committee Chairman.

  • Makes recommendations for improving the quality and professionalism of the program.

District CHIP Directors:  District CHIP Directors are nominated by the District Deputy Grand Master and the Division Director, and recommended by the Committee Chairman and appointed by the Grand Master. His duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Act as a liaison and communication link between the Division Director and the Lodge CHIP Director.

  • Insures that each Lodge is represented.

  • Maintains general supervision over outside persons and organizations that are represented and participating at an event.

  • Schedule and conduct training to maintain Professionalism.

  • Report Event statistics to Division Director in a timely manner.

  • Maintains accurate list of team members and their qualifications.

  • Schedule upcoming Events in a timely manner keeping the Division Director informed.

  • Maintain general supervision over District and Lodge Child ID Team.

  • Inform the Division Director of material and equipment requirements.

  • Schedule and conduct visit to event site to ensure that it is capable of hosting the event.

Lodge CHIP Director:   The Worshipful Master of his lodge appoints Lodge CHIP Director. His duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Acts as Lodge representative for all matters relating to Child ID Program (CHIP).

  • Act as a liaison and communication link between the District Director and the Worshipful Master of his lodge.

  • Develop/maintain a list of local events, which would attract children and would be fertile events for Child ID Team participation.

  • Make sure all scheduled events are reported to the District Director for the purposes of communication and posting on the Child ID Program web site.

  • Provide the Committee Chairman, via the District Director and Division Director, with any suggestions for improvement of the CHIP Program.

  • Submit the Event Report to the District Director.
