gRAND lODGE DISTRICT OFFICERS

The District Officers work directly with the District Deputy Grand Master who in turn reports to the Grand Lodge.  As most Brethren all ready know the District Team consist of the DDGM, DIW, DEO, DBC, and Provost of several Grand Lodge Committees.  Our goal is to ensure that the Brethren are working in the best interest of Freemasonry and to help lodges to grow and prosper throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

 


District Deputy Grand Master - is in charge of the District and works close with the Masters and Secretaries of each lodge to ensure that the laws, rules, and regulations are being followed.  He will assist a Master or Secretary to complete the required forms, edicts, and regulations that are set forth by the Grand Lodge of Virginia.  The DDGM has under him the District Instructor of Work (DIW), District Educational Officer (DEO), and the District Blood Coordinator (DBC).  The DDGM is in charge of gather all District Reports from the lodges and turning them over to the Grand Secretary (DDGM Reports).

District Instructors of Work:  District Instructors of Work are nominated by the District Deputy Grand Master, reviewed by the Committee Chairman and approved by the Grand Master. His duties include, but are not limited to, acting as a liaison and communication link between the Division Lecturers and the Lodge Instructor of Work.  They are to assist the Grand Lecturer and Division Lecturer, when requested, and especially in helping them to prepare for and conduct area-wide schools of ritual training.  DIWs are to assist Lodges to become self-sufficient in conducting the ritual by providing intensive, individual instruction to members who desire to learn a lecture or teach catechism.  DIWs are to help Worshipful Masters to train officers preparing for certificates of proficiency in the ritual, as well as visit Lodges periodically, on a routine basis, to identify common flaws and problems in executing the ritual and ceremonies.  They should plan and conduct frequent, district-wide, ritual training schools to perfect skill in smoothly executing the floor work and beautiful lectures of the degrees in a pure and impressive manner.  DIWs are also to provide direct support to the District Deputy Grand Master, as a primary member of the District Team, in matters related to execution of Masonic ritual and ceremony.

 


 

District Educational Officers:  District Educational Officers are nominated by the District Deputy Grand Master and the Division Provost, and recommended by the Committee Chairman and appointed by the Grand Master. His duties include, but are not limited to, acting as a liaison and communication link between the Division Provosts and the Lodge Educational Officer, and making suitable Masonic education-oriented presentations, when invited by local Masters' and Wardens' Associations or the Worshipful Masters of subordinate Lodges.  His primary duty is the training of the subordinate Lodge officers in all areas of Masonic education, except for ritual.  

 


District Blood Coordinators:  District Blood Coordinators are nominated by the District Deputy Grand Master, reviewed by the Committee Chairman and approved by the Grand Master. His duties include, but are not limited to, acting as a liaison and communication link between the Regional Blood Coordinators and the Lodge Blood Chairman; communicating with District Deputy Grand Master with regards to the blood program; preparing and distributing completed quarterly and annual blood reports in a timely manner; and assuring timely submission of the Levy Award and Certificate nominations for Lodges in his district.

 


District Masonic Home Ambassador:  The Masonic Home is the crown jewel of Freemasonry in Virginia.  Every District and lodge Ambassador is in charge of communicating to the craft the important benefits and rights of the Masonic Home of Virginia to our membership.
